7/9-8/4 Gateway to Cape Cod, Rochester, MA

This is a Thousand Trails park, and we were in a great spot!  No hottub for Steve, but otherwise good.  We met two couples who were motorcycle camping, with pop-up trailers designed for cycles.  We used to have one, so we stopped to talk.  We also had them over for a fire.  Hope that Steve and Layne, and Rick and Sandy are having a great time on their travels!

We started out with a trip to New Bedford.  We saw the whaling museum and the wharf and a lot of neat homes!

We took a trip to Providence, Rhode Island while we were here, and saw the State House, the Williams National Historic Park, and the Atheneaum Library, which was where HP Lovecraft (The Stephen King of his day) hung out.  We also toured Benefit Street, where there were some neat homes.

People were playing volleyball in the sunken yard of the State House.  It was a pretty nice yard for it.

On our ride to Cape Cod, we took in the National Seashore, Provincetown and the Pilgrim's tower monument, where Cape Codder's contend that the Pilgrims first landed!

We toured Plymouth, MA to see "The Rock", and the Mayflower II replica ship.  We also came back on Wednesday night to listen to the live music in the park.  It was a good time.

We took a trip to Mystic, Connecticut and Watch Hill, Rhode Island one day.  That was a long trip, but we saw some neat homes and touristy areas.

We also took a trip to Newport, RI, which used to be the summer place for the wealthy.  We toured "The Elms" and "The Breakers" and gawked at the luxury for the 6 weeks per summer most of the families were there for.  Nobody now can sustain that lifestyle, with 35 servants on staff and endless socializing!
